Elders are ordained to many responsibilities within the church, which include the administrative duties of the Session, assisting in worship and celebration of Holy Communion. The Elders duties also include establishing the annual budget, and mission work of the church along with many other areas of service. Board of Deacons	Fourth Sunday each Month 5:30 PM
Deacons are ordained to serve in compassion ministries, such as ministering to those who are in need, the sick, the friendless, assisting with the Lord's Supper, along with serving as usher and greeter for worship services, funerals and special services. Christian Education	First Sunday each Month 6:00 PM
The committee is chaired by an elder and normally meets monthly or as required. The committee will be comprised of Elders, Deacons, and members of the congregation. The Christian Education Committee is usually made up of, but is not limited to the following Sub-Committees: Sunday School, Youth, Wednesday Night Fellowship Meals, and Special Programs. The responsibilities of the CED are (but not limited to): Church School, Youth Ministry, Wednesday Night Fellowship, Vacation Bible School, Conferences and Work-Projects, Confirmation Classes, Bible Study Programs, Preschool, College Ministry and Leadership/Officer Training. Member Care Committee	To Be Determined by Chair
The Member Care Committee is chaired by an elder and normally meets monthly Develop and oversee a comprehensive program of member care for our church family Develop and oversee a comprehensive program to enfold new members into the life of the church family Responsible for maintaining the church rolls, which are reviewed annually to assure accuracy Responsible for checking the Friendship Register after each worship day Contacting those who visit the church by phone, letter or visit Keeping before the congregation the necessity of developing an atmosphere of welcome and warmth Developing a Pictorial Membership Directory, on a regular basis (aprox. every 3 years) Prepare an annual committee budget no later than September 1st each year Provide caring programs dealing with aspects of human need: i.e. Divorce Recovery Workshops, Grief Workshops, Parenting Skills, Teenagers and Sex, Chemical Dependency, etc.	Committee Chairperson Richard Pellerin - Elder

This committee will be chaired by an elder and generally meets monthly Oversee and review our church's responsibility for ministry beyond its local program Challenge the congregation to increase its global awareness and personal involvement in the mission of the church Oversee the 4-Cents A Meal, Christmas Joy Offering and One Great Hour of Sharing Programs Coordinate possible Campus Ministry for Cumberland University May choose to promote Heifer Project, Habitat for Humanity, or other programs. Building and Grounds	To Be Determined by Chair
The building and Grounds Committee is responsible for preserving and maintaining the building which belong to First Presbyterian Church, the parking lot, and the grounds which surround them. This also includes articles of furniture and equipment they contain for the congregation's use or operation and maintenance of the church van, and preparing budget requests for these areas of responsibility. This committee will be chaired by an elder and will meet monthly or upon the call of the chair Responsible for timely maintenance and repair of all portions of the church building, strucuture, (e.g. roof, doors, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, shrubbery, heating, cooling, wiring, outdoor watering system, etc.) Arranging for lawn mowing, leaf raking, and snow clearance as required and for approving planting and caring of plants in the church building and on the property of the church. This committee will be chaired by an elder and will meet monthly upon the call of the chair Membership of this committee should include persons have some knowledge of the music of the church and a good understanding of Christian worship making, caring for, and displaying banners used in worship Oversight and evaluation of worship activities Recommend to the Session new ideas, changes, special worship opportunities, and newsletter announcements Prepare for communion services Plan Cedar Forest Ministry Plan Annual Hanging of the Greens Service Plan Annual Christmas Eve Service Recruit and Assign Lay Readers When the minister, organist, or choir director is ill, or on vacation, it is the responsibility of this committee to secure an appropriate substitute. Budget/Financial/Stewardship	To Be Determined by Chair
This committee shall be comprised of two elders, two deacons, and one trustee. Among whom, one elder shall serve as chair. The committee will meet as needed. Keep a continually updated 3-5 year plan for church facilities, growth, mission and other opportunities Prepare an annual budget no later than November 1st each year Track annual expenditures against previous year's budget and rewrite new budget and submit to the session for approval The committee shall communicate each annual budget to the congregation This committee may be called upon by the Stewardship committee for information which would prove helpful in its work This committee shall be responsible for supervision of the financial operations of the church and will work closely with the Treasurer and the Church Secretary to insure all records are in order Plan for the year round promotion of the mission of our local congregation and its larger mission through the Presbyterian Church (USA) Plan a concentrated Stewardship Promotion/Pledge Drive in the Fall	Committee Chairperson Roy Wauford - Elder

The committee will be chaired by an elder and will meet upon the call of the Chair. The membership of this committee will come from any officers and the congregation-at-large. It is the responsibility of this committee to see that each regular employee has a job description and that any changes in the job description s are approved by the session. Conduct the Annual Work Review of the Pastor, Director of Christian Education, Administrative Assistant, Choir Director, Organist and Facilities Manager Report to the Session the results of the review and any recommended changes in job descriptions, compensation, or benefits Serve as a conflict management/grievance committee as needed This committee is responsible for hiring and firing of employees (other than ministerial staff) and will institute and carry out all First Presbyterian Church policies. They will see that the policies (vacation, sick leave, insurance, etc.) are clearly defined and understood One member of this committee shall serve as the Preschool Liaison to arrange for budgeting and assistance for the preschool and coordinate an annual audit of their records This committee will prepare an annual budget that is due no later than September 1st each year	Committee Chairperson Pat Bone - Elder
